The Beauty of Ordinary Moments

We often think a photograph needs an extraordinary subject to be worth taking. A beautiful landscape, a grand celebration, or a perfectly planned portrait. But some of my favorite photographs come from moments that were never meant to be photographed. A person waiting for the morning train. Sunlight falling across an old building. Two friends laughing on a quiet street. A brief glance between strangers. These moments are ordinary— but they rarely feel ordinary when you stop long enough to notice them.

Learning to Look

Photography has taught me to slow down.
When I walk through a city with my camera, I try not to search for the perfect photograph. Instead, I pay attention to
what is already happening around me.

Light changes. People move. Shadows appear and disappear. A familiar street can suddenly look completely different for just a few seconds. The camera gives me a reason to pause and observe.

Waiting for the Moment

Street and documentary photography have taught me one important lesson: patience matters.
Sometimes I'll stand in one location for several minutes without taking a single photograph. Then, suddenly, everything comes together.

Someone walks into the frame. The light hits at exactly the right angle. A gesture creates a connection between the foreground and background. The photograph exists for only a moment. My job is simply to recognize it.

Photographing People Naturally

When photographing people, I’m less interested in perfect poses and more interested in genuine moments.
A photograph becomes more powerful when it reveals something real—a subtle expression, a relaxed posture, or an interaction that wasn't planned. That is why I try to create space for people to simply be themselves. The less forced the moment feels, the more honest the photograph becomes.
